UNEX Manufactures Undercarriages for the Launch Base of the Ariane 6 Rocket

UNEX emerged successful from a multi-stage tender process for the manufacture of 16 sets of undercarriages and coupling components which will form part of the mobile building of a new Ariane 6 rocket launch platform at the Guiana Space Centre. In total, the company is to supply approximately 810 tonnes of steel structures.

UNEX presented at Hannover Messe

Together with other Czech companies, UNEX participated in the largest industrial trade fair, Hannover Messe. Over 225,000 visitors—one third of which were from abroad—visited the Hanover fairgrounds in the last week of April to learn about the latest news and innovations in industrial automation and IT, power and environmental technologies, and mechanical engineering and engineering subcontracting.

Record attendance at the open house

The traditional May Day Open House enjoyed exceptional interest this year. Although we can only estimate the exact number of visitors to several thousand, the organisational team is unanimous in that the UNEX complex welcomed the most visitors it has seen in many years. The fluctuating April weather at the end of the month came to its senses, which meant that visitors could enjoy the entire prepared programme in beautiful sunny weather. A large children’s playground rose up in the area between the production halls: an inflatable obstacle course, wild surfing simulator, face painting, children’s workshops, games and contests.

UNEX is heading for the largest industrial exhibition in the world

The Hannover Messe is considered the world's largest industrial exhibition. The 70th jubilee will be held from 24 to 28 April in the traditional spot of the Hannover Trade Fair whose 496,000 m² of roofed exhibition premises in 27 halls, pavilions and congress centres represent the largest complex of its kind in the world. Again, UNEX will not be missing among exhibitors from all over the world this year.

Successful Year 2016

UNEX a.s., an engineering and metallurgical company, realized the revenue of CZK 2,560 million last year, the year-on-year increase in revenue was 6 %, i.e. CZK 155 million. The company operating performance expressed by EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) achieved the year-on-year increase by CZK 35 million to the total amount of CZK132 million, the year-on-year increase thus makes 36 %. Thanks to the achieved profit, the company repaid the investment loans amounting to CZK 130 million in 2016.

UNEX Charity Business Run

On Thursday, 13 October 2016, our employees joined the nationwide call entitled “Hands On Your Breasts and Run Out Of The Office - Give Your Balls Some Fresh Air!” The aim of the project is to involve 10,000 corporate runners from all over the Czech Republic thus breaking through certain barriers in combating cancer, an initiative led by the Hands on the Breasts and STK for Men foundation, which consists in meaningful prevention and an awareness raising campaign.

UNEX presents itself at FOND-EX

During the first week of October, UNEX took part in the FOND-EX international foundry fair taking place as part of the Brno International Engineering Fair (MSV). FOND-EX is the third largest specialised foundry fair in the world and UNEX has been a regular participant for several years now.

UNEX CUP 2016

This year, UNEX and trade union representatives came together to organise the 7th annual five-a-side football tournament, the UNEX CUP, for their employees. The tournament pitted a total of ten teams against each other, representing individual departments and manufacturing services of the company, including teams from our plants in Olomouc and the Slovak town of Snina. The victor of this year’s UNEX CUP was the team fielded by CPM (Central Material Preparation Department).
