UNEX a.s., an engineering and metallurgical company, realized the revenue of CZK 2,560 million last year, the year-on-year increase in revenue was 6 %, i.e. CZK 155 million. The company operating performance expressed by EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) achieved the year-on-year increase by CZK 35 million to the total amount of CZK132 million, the year-on-year increase thus makes 36 %. Thanks to the achieved profit, the company repaid the investment loans amounting to CZK 130 million in 2016.
"Year 2016 was successful for us in terms of both business and management," says Milan Bačko, Chairman of UNEX Board of Directors. "We won a number of new job orders for our engineering and foundry production, also thanks to the company participation and presentation in both domestic and international technical fairs. We were successful in seeking internal reserves, increasing production efficiency and introducing cost-reducing measures. What we did not reduce were the costs related to our employees, as we introduced a flat increase of wages by 13 % in average, which represents an increase in the total annual labour costs by CZK 40 million. The pursuit of maintaining and stabilizing the present headcount, mainly the hourly and technical labour, remains to be our priority also for the next period of time."
In 2017, UNEX expects a year-on-year increase in revenue by 10 %, EBITDA should increase by 20 %. Wage increase will be associated this year with increase in performance and production efficiency of the individual employees, as well as of the entire company.
"Our systematic and long-term investments in production technologies and in human resources positively affect the production efficiency improvement. This will help us offer a broader range of production capacities or faster deliveries of ordered products to our customers. We see the future of Unex mainly in supplies of heavy engineering components to the most advanced industries with the fastest growth at the present: autonomous mining systems, robotics, hybrid drives and other components for industry 4.0," adds Milan Bačko.
