Olomouc, 19. April 2016 – UNEX, an engineering and metallurgical company, has finished two important investment projects in its foundry facilities in the production plants in Uničov and Olomouc. In Uničov, it invested CZK 244.4 million into the broadening and modernizing of the production capacity of the foundry, the investment of CZK 24.9 million in Olomouc was directed into environmental measures, specifically into decreasing the amount of solid pollutants released into the air. Both projects were co-funded from the EU resources within the framework of OPPI and OPŽP.
“The production capacity increase and the modernization of the foundry in Uničov is the largest investment project of the company to a foundry plant since 2010,” says Miroslav Bartošek, the UNEX’s investment development project manager. “The goal of the investment was increasing the productivity and increasing the production capacity of the foundry in Uničov, where castings of weights from 5 kilograms to 20 tons are made; supplying primarily the segments of mining and construction technologies. It was a rather demanding project that was, moreover, implemented during standard production. The project works affected all elements of the production process – this was one of the reasons of dividing its implementation into 4 stages, taking 4 years in total.”
The modernization of the Uničov foundry increased the competitiveness of the company on both Czech and international markets: within the same time, the plant delivers more products, which allows UNEX to offer its production capacities to new customers. At the same time, it increased the potential of the foundry, which is now capable of producing more sophisticated products.
Another, equally important, goal of the investment project was to decrease the adverse environmental effects of the foundry production: the new suction filter units decrease significantly the dustiness of the workplace as well as the volume of emissions; the amount of production wastes also decreased.
Decreasing the solid pollutants released into the air was the main goal of the investment in the UNEX production plant in Olomouc.
The gist of the investment project was changing the way of extraction and catching of the solid pollutants. The system uses new dry filters produced by CIPRES FILTR Brno s.r.o., a Czech manufacturer, offer high efficiency of pollutant suppression and thus guarantee a significant total decrease of the emission burden of the residential area near the foundry as well as the entire city of Olomouc.
